Curriculum > CS 145 FAQ

I took a college level programming course before I transferred to Eau Claire. Do I still need to take CS 145, or will my other course be a substitute for it?

Assuming your college level course was in Java, it will probably transfer as CS 145. Please see the Department Chair for details.

Is CS 145 just for majors and minors?

Yes. If you are not a CS/CE/SE major or minor and you want to learn some programming skills, then we recommend CS 163 (Introduction to Programming in C++) or CS 318 (Web Programming).

Are there any prerequisites or limitations on enrollment?

Math 109 or concurrent enrollment or placement in Math 11, 112, 113, 114, or 215 is a prerequisite for CS 145.
