The Eau Claire Advantage
Why choose Computer Science at Eau Claire? Consider this:
- The curriculum in Computer Science at UW-Eau Claire is both regionally
and nationally recognized. The Computer Science program at UW-Eau Claire
is nationally accredited (by the Computing Accreditation Commission
of ABET, Inc.).
- Our innovative approaches to the curriculum have been nationally recognized
by the National Science Foundation three times in the last decade. Each
time (1993, 1997, and 2003) we received an NSF CCLI equipment grant
in support of our outstanding programs. Courses within the curriculum
are highly integrated, so that students build on principles and practices
that they have learned in earlier classes. Students use state-of-the-art
hardware for their work, as well as current software development environments
and tools.
- The Department was selected as the UW-Eau Claire Outstanding Teaching
Department in 2001, 2002, and 2003.
- The Department is financially supported by the Karlgaard Family Foundation,
a $4.5M endowment dedicated to maintaining excellence in Computer Science
and Computer Science education. The Karlgaard Scholars program provides
approximately 12 full tuition scholarships per year to students majoring
in computer science, computer engineering, or software engineering.
