Although I enjoy a variety of sports and hobbies, these pictures and comments focus on the two wheeled variety.
I raced off road motorcycles for lots of years - retiring from competition in 2004 due to injuries.
The following set of pictures relate to this:
(And after viewing these pictures, you're going to wonder why I didn't quit racing in 2001?
Maybe I'm not the sharpest crayon in the box :-} )
I quit racing motorcycles July 18, 2004. Reason? I crashed at the Marquette National Enduro and ripped/detached two rotator cuff tendons. Had to have surgery to reattach them using three pins. Decided I'm getting too old for this :-( But! I still ride off road motorcycles as often as possible. A bit slower... :-). The following are "post" motorcycle racing pictures:
The next one is linked to some video clips taken at the Colorado 500 charity dirt bike ride. Each year they make a DVD of the ride. To make it into the DVD you need to crash - or do something else interesting. I must like being in this video, since I've been included every year I've gone on the ride (rarely for "good" riding shots). These are clips of my cameo appearances in the videos.
I started racing mountain bikes in the summer of 2005 (had to do something after racing motorcycles). I won half of the races I entered in 2007 in the beginner citizen class, so last summer, 2008, I moved up to the sport class (longer races than citizen and tougher competition). Finished 2nd or 3rd in five of six races I entered. Didn't finish one race due to being taken out by someone crashing in front of me at the bottom of a fast hill – first time in about 25 races
